Riverside
Riverside Connecticut, originally known as Mianus Neck, was predominately a farming and fishing village into the late 1800s. Locally grown potatoes were stored and shipped to New York City from its docks on the Minanus River.
Today its extensive waterfront, harbor area, schools, commuter train and highway access make Riverside CT a prime residential area.
The Riverside Yacht Club founded in 1888 by George I. Tyson, a prominent summer resident of Riverside and an enthusiastic yachtsman, sets the tone for this water-focused community.
Today the Riverside hamlet with in Greenwich consists of grand water front estates with extensive vistas of Long Island Sound and more modest suburban homes inland. Many homes are close enough to walk to the Riverside Train station for the 45min trip to New York’s Grand Central Terminal, a convenience that continues to attract a large commuter population to live in Riverside.
