Greenwich is blessed with over 31 miles of Long Island Sound coastline made up of town beaches , parks , harbors, yacht clubs and enticing homes and estates directly on the coast or near to the water. From the New York border on the west to the Stamford Connecticut border on the east there are multiple waterfront hamlets of Greenwich.
Byram Shore and Byram harbor start on the west wrapping around to the exclusive Belle Haven and Field Point Circle enclaves, among the more esteemed waterfront residential areas of the North East. Next is Greenwich Harbor with its public docks, parks and the Greenwich park’s ferry service to the towns two separate island parks and beaches.
Greenwich Harbor is also home to the Delmar Hotel and transit yacht docks.
At the tip of Steamboat Rd on the east side of Greenwich Harbor is the Indian Harbor Yacht Club founded in 1889. Continuing east next along the coast is Cos Cob harbor home to the Greenwich Water and Rowing club along with extensive dock and marina support facilities.
The hamlet of Riverside follows with grand homes on the water and the Riverside Yacht Club founded in 1888 by George I. Tyson, an avid sailor and prominent summer resident of Riverside.
Moving east along the Greenwich coast line leads to the jewel in the Greenwich parks system, Greenwich Point Park or as local residents refer to it Tod’s Point. The park is a peninsula stretching out into Long Island Sound and includes picnic areas, a sandy beach, walking trails thru the woods and a town marina. Greenwich Point is connected to the hamlet of Old Greenwich dating back to 1640 when Daniel Patrick and Robert Feake, bought all the land between the Asamuck and Potommuck brooks, in the area now known as Old Greenwich. Now days Old Greenwich is a quaint family oriented village anchoring the east end of Greenwich.
Overall Greenwich’s waterfront is a mixture of wonderful homes with sweeping Long Island views, water oriented recreation facilities and four public parks taking full advantage of the miles of natural beauty over looking the Long Island shore and views to the New York City skyline.
