 Stamford  Connecticut

Stamford Connecticut is one of Americas more dynamic cities.  It covers 39 Sq Miles from its Long Island Sound water front homes and beaches into a vibrant urban center, home to major fortune 500 corporations, international banks and many financial services firms thru residential areas and into the large estates in the wooded northern most area near the NY State border.

Down Town Stamford has undergone significant building with new headquarters buildings and large trading floors for RBS and UBS banks. There is extensive development taking place around the Transportation Center rail hub providing easy access both to NYCity commuter trains and Amtrak train access to major east coast cities such as Boston , Baltimore and Washington DC.  Interstate 95 and the Merritt Parkway bisect the Southern and Northern ends of Stamford making for easy car access to these two major arteries.

The city center is also home to world class shopping in the Stamford town center mall and Fine Arts Theater and events at the Rich Forum and recently rebuilt Palace Theater. The city’s cultural wealth includes the Stamford Symphony, Connecticut Ballet, Sterling Farms Theater Complex and the Stamford Center for the Arts.  The Avon Theater features the best of first – run independent, documentary and foreign films and educational programing that enhances the cultural richness of the Stamford downtown. In addition Stamford hosts branches of The University of Connecticut, University of Bridgeport, and Sacred Heart University.

Stamford has over 600 acres of parkland, three town beaches and host of marinas for water oriented recreation.  There are two public golf courses, indoor skating and the newly opened Chelsea Piers complex,  a 400,000 sq ft multi-sport recreation facility inspired by the highly regarded Chelsea Piers complex in NYCity.  There are summer  Alive@Five summer concerts in the Columbus Park on Main St. and  the annual Art in Public Places sculpture exhibit that enhances the many art venues around Stamford. The Mill River Park on the west end of Stamford’s Urban center is undergoing a major redevelopment leading to one of the most beautiful urban parks in the North East, home to a carousel, walking paths, benches, lighting, playgrounds , countless plantings and hundreds of cherry and other trees.

No wonder the nick name for Stamford is   ‘The City that Works’
